This version of the Smurf blew up in the 90s at clubs and parties.
It’s a great Hip Hop move that you can add your own swag to!

How to do the New School Smurf
- Start by putting on a song with an easy-to-follow beat. Then, start bouncing to the beat by bending your knees and bouncing up and down.
- Now let’s add in the arm movement. You’re going to create a motion almost like you’re swimming. Bring your right arm up by your shoulder, keeping your hand in a loose fist. Then bring your right arm forward in front of you, and as you do so, bring your left arm (hand in a fist) behind you. Finally, bring your right arm back to its original position, drawing the arm back, while bringing the left arm out in front.
- Continuously practice the swimming motion for the arms while also bouncing with your legs.
All done!
This is just a basic version of the New School Smurf.
You can also try a different variation where you do a 2 Step instead of a bounce! Watch the video above to see how it’s done. :)
